Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was received at the White House by U.S. President Donald Trump for a meeting dedicated to the main issues of the Middle East crisis. At the end of the talks, the Israeli leader described the understanding between the two countries as "a granite wall," reaffirming the close cooperation between Washington and Tel Aviv on security issues, starting with the Iranian nuclear question.
The meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half, was held behind closed doors with no joint statements to the press. Trump shared his comments in a brief message on Truth Social, calling it a "very positive" discussion. Netanyahu, in a video released later, reported having a broad discussion with the American president, focusing particularly on the shared goal of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
During the visit, protests also took place in front of the White House, with groups of activists criticizing the Israeli government's policies.
The summit took place as tensions in the area were rising again. At the same time, a missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan, attributed to Iran, was followed by raids conducted by the United States along with Saudi Arabia against targets linked to pro-Iranian militias in Iraq. Tehran also ruled out any ongoing negotiations with Washington, while incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea contributed to the rise in oil prices.
