A new axis of economic cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Mozambique is beginning to take shape. This relationship is built with the aim of bringing closer two geographically distant markets, united by the desire to develop new international relations, attract investments, and offer their respective businesses largely unexplored opportunities.
The first impulse came during FACIM 2026, Mozambique's main multisectoral trade fair, held from August 31 to September 6 at the Marracuene Fair Center, in the Maputo area. It was in this context that contacts were initiated, later developed through discussions with EuroCam, the association of European entrepreneurs in Mozambique. At the fair, Ecolibrì presented its renewable energy production technologies, hybrid wind-solar systems, and solutions for areas where access to the electrical grid is still limited.
EuroCam brings together and represents a significant portion of European business interests present in the African country. Its network includes various national chamber realities and works to promote trade, investments, industrial partnerships, and dialogue between companies and institutions, providing market knowledge, qualified relationships, and operational support tools.
The project under construction envisions a model of mutual representation. Ecolibrì, part of the ACE Group, is expected to become EuroCam's reference point in the Republic of Moldova, while EuroCam can accompany Moldovan companies and organizations interested in accessing the local market in Mozambique. The goal goes beyond mere promotion: to build a stable presence capable of transforming initial contacts into continuous industrial, commercial, and institutional relationships.
A significant step in this direction is represented by the nomination of Dr. Donatella Scarpa as EUROCAM Mozambique's Representative in the Republic of Moldova, proposed by the organization's Presidency. This choice is linked to her deep relationship with the country, of which she is a citizen, and her extensive experience in the business world and international economic relations.
Scarpa is indeed at the helm of ACE and Ecolibrì, two business entities operating in Moldova that have already developed relationships and activities with Mozambique, and she is also Vice President of the Mozambique-Italy Chamber of Commerce. This path has allowed her to build a network of relationships between businesses, institutions, and economic organizations in the two countries over the years.
Her direct knowledge of the Moldovan and Mozambican contexts is one of the central elements of the nomination. The role would indeed have a concrete function: facilitating relations with Moldovan institutions and the business world, fostering new opportunities in trade, investments, industrial partnerships, and economic cooperation. In this journey, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova is identified as one of the key institutional interlocutors with whom to develop initiatives and collaboration tools.
The choice of Ecolibrì is also based on the experience gained by the Italian company in the renewable energy sector and the established presence of the A.C.E. group in Moldova. This combination allows for the merging of technological expertise, knowledge of the Moldovan economic system, and the ability to operate in international markets. Participation in FACIM, along with Leonardo Group and Matemo, has further strengthened the company's internationalization path and its positioning on the African continent.
For Moldovan companies, the connection with Mozambique can represent a gateway to Southern Africa and an economy with significant development needs in the energy, agro-industry, infrastructure, logistics, technology, and services sectors. A market with significant potential, but where it is essential to rely on interlocutors capable of knowing the territory, identifying reliable partners, and accompanying projects from the exploratory to the execution phase.
At the same time, Mozambican companies could find in Moldova an access point to industrial expertise, technologies, and commercial networks linked to the European market. Chișinău is strengthening its path of economic integration with the European Union and aims to expand the presence of its companies in international markets. The Moldova Business Week 2026 indeed focuses on attracting investments, growing exports, and connecting local businesses with foreign capital and partners.
The value of the agreement between EuroCam and Ecolibrì lies mainly in its operational dimension. The project could translate into the organization of B2B meetings, business missions, scouting activities, partner searches, assistance in entering the two markets, and the development of joint initiatives. Particular attention could be given to renewable energies and solutions for energy autonomy, extending collaboration also to agri-food, industry, training, infrastructure, and technological services.
The mutual representation thus aims to reduce one of the main difficulties encountered by companies when entering geographically distant markets: the absence of a recognizable and present interlocutor on the territory. EuroCam and Ecolibrì intend to create a contact point capable of guiding companies, facilitating dialogue with institutions, and giving continuity to the relationships initiated.
The bridge between Moldova and Mozambique is still under construction, but it is already based on a concrete path, initiated in an international setting like FACIM and supported by entities that operate steadily in the two economic systems. The nomination of Donatella Scarpa to the EUROCAM representation in Moldova represents another step towards structuring this relationship and creating a stable economic channel between Eastern Europe and Southern Africa, capable of generating new opportunities for businesses, investors, and institutions of the two countries.
