Poland is working to determine the nature of an object that fell overnight near Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship, after being detected by radar systems while crossing national airspace. According to Polish media, the prevailing hypothesis is that it is a Russian missile.
The 10th Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced that the object was detected at 3:40 AM during a period of intense activity by Russian aviation engaged in attacks against Ukraine. An F-16 fighter jet was launched for identification, but radar contact was lost six minutes later, before a definite identification could be made.
Subsequently, a Mi-24 helicopter was dispatched to the area of the last detection and identified the probable impact site in an undeveloped area near Tarnawa-Kolonia. Bomb disposal experts, search and rescue teams, and other relevant authorities arrived on the scene to secure the area and conduct investigations.
According to the portal Wirtualna Polska, citing government sources, "everything indicates" that the object is a Russian missile. However, the authorities have not yet officially confirmed the nature of the object, while analysis operations continue.
