ucrainaUkraine was rocked overnight by a series of deadly Russian bombardments that struck residential areas and vital infrastructure across the country, leaving at least 15 civilians dead and dozens more injured. The attacks, described by Kyiv officials as some of the most intense in recent weeks, come amid escalating military operations along the eastern front.

Explosions were reported in major urban centers including Kharkiv, Dnipro, and the capital Kyiv, where air raid sirens echoed for hours. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted many incoming missiles, but several slipped through, causing significant damage to homes, power grids, and public buildings.

Emergency services worked through the early morning to pull survivors from the rubble. In Dnipro, at least four apartment blocks were hit, killing several residents, including children. Authorities declared a state of emergency in the hardest-hit regions, while President Volodymyr Zelensky once again called for increased Western air defense support, stating, "This brutality cannot go unanswered."

The Kremlin has not publicly commented on the latest strikes but has in recent days intensified its rhetoric against NATO and Ukraine, accusing Kyiv of planning counterattacks inside Russian territory. Analysts see the timing of these bombings as a signal to NATO leaders ahead of the upcoming summit in The Hague.

Military experts warn the strikes are part of a renewed Russian offensive aimed at overwhelming Ukraine’s air defenses and demoralizing its civilian population. With the war now in its third year, international concern is growing over the deepening humanitarian toll and the prospect of prolonged conflict.

International condemnation followed swiftly. The European Union and United States reaffirmed their support for Ukraine, promising expedited delivery of military aid and humanitarian supplies. Meanwhile, the UN expressed alarm at the escalating civilian casualties and called for immediate de-escalation.
